DIAZ BRITEL ISABELLA – CIFUENTES SOTELO KEVIN SANTIAGO Sixth

Mother’s day is here! In order to celebrate Mother’s Day, the Chinese teacher Juanru He arranged a homework for students of six grade: making a Chinese dumplings for your mother at home. Through this activity, the teacher hoped every mother would have a different holiday with their children, which can help them learn about Chinese culture together.nino

In Chinese, the “mother(妈)” of Chinese characters is composed of “female(女)” and “horse(马)”. Female is a woman’s meaning, the horse is a symbol of hard-working animals in Chinese. It means that in our lives, there is a woman who has been doing her work for their children in her lifetime, and her hard work has not paid off. She is a mother. So the teacher taught students how to say “happy mother’s day” and “I love you, mom!” in Chinese, and taught students the Chinese songs about mother in the class: mom is best in the world! Let students know that mother’s kindness is indescribable.

At last, wish all mothers a happy day!

Chinese New Year 2017

Welcome to the Chinese Blog

We are so glad to have you here, we expect to see you often here. We will have great news about China, our school and the Area of Mandarin.

Today, January the 27th, we celebrate the Chinese New Year. This year we start the year of the rooster. Rooster is almost the epitome of fidelity and punctuality. For ancestors who had no alarm clocks, the crowing was significant, as it could awaken people to get up and start to work. In Chinese culture, another symbolic meaning of chicken carries is exorcising evil spirits.

The main traditional celebrations of the festival include eating reunion dinner with family, giving red envelopes, firecrackers, new clothes, and decorations. More modern celebrations include watching the CCTV Gala, instant message greetings, and cyber money gifts.

Here you can see the CCTV Gala 2017

Every street, building, and house where CNY is celebrated is decorated with red. Red is the main color for the festival, as it is believed to be an auspicious color. Red lanterns hang in streets; red couplets are pasted on doors; banks and official buildings are decorated with red New Year pictures depicting images of prosperity.

Most of the decoration is traditionally done on Chinese New Year’s Eve.

As 2017 is the year of rooster, decorations related to roosters will be commonly seen. There are red rooster dolls for children and New Year paintings with roosters on.

Chinese food in New Year is very special, the traditional way to celebrate it is to make dumplings and fish, all the family participates on this activity, it’s a good way to spend time together and keep the traditions.
